Toyota recalls more than 228,000 vehicles over seat back safety concerns — Orland Park Technology news

Toyota is recalling more than 228,000 vehicles due to a potential issue with the second-row seat backs, which may fail to stay secured in the event of a crash. The recall impacts certain 2022 through 2026 Toyota Sienna Hybrid vehicles. According to a recall notice posted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the second-row seat backs could disengage from its locked position in a crash, failing to properly restrain passengers and increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will update the supplemental restraint system (SRS) electronic control unit (ECU) software. For vehicles equipped with the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) package, dealers will replace the two second-row seat backs free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed Dec. 7.
